It has been told the program of the seventeenth edition of the Cous Cous Fest in the beautiful San Vito Lo Capo, which has received this important recognition of the 5 sails from Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club for the beauty and cleanliness of the sea and the beaches and the efficiency of the services offered - 5th place, but equally prestigious in the national ranking of guidablu.
It could not be otherwise given the exponential growth in terms of tourist numbers and satisfaction that the event made its debut record to date.
This is why it is good to start talking about it even now, even if the highly anticipated event will be held from the 23rd to the 28th of September. Not surprisingly, Sicily and San Vito, were recently counted by the famous newspaper Repubblica as among the best destinations as regards the summer program of events.
An appointment that has continued for sixteen years, with the delicious typical dish of couscous from Trapani always at its centre, inherited from ancient traditions and much more distant places, geographically speaking. A symbol of good cooking but also of integration, making it a veritable cultural ans social event , thus going beyond the simple culinary aspect. Not only tastings and culinary delights in the Gourmet Village will come to life, but also performances and the participation of national and international artists, in addition to the presence of local craft products with the Expo Village.
The programme of events was published on the 10th of August and there will be the presence of the internationally acclaimed chef Claudio Sadler - awarded 2 Michelin stars - or his stellar colleague Giancarlo Morelli, but also chefs of other nationalities, as anticipated at the beginning, such as the Palestinians Hani Kasabri and Oden Abul Hawa. Last yearchefs fromPalestine took part -aswe wrote, and also confirmed forthis new editionare chefs from Israel,Tunisia, Senegal,Egypt, Morocco,Ivory Coast,and eventhe United States,for the first timein the history ofevent.Again this year,all the recipeswill be judged byaspecial jurycomposed ofprofessional chefsand well-known,renowned journalistsand, inevitably,bytastersand"food lovers".
Last year,tourists and visitorswere able to attendtwo concertevents free of charge. Not any old singers,but MaxGazzč, a veteranof the Sanremo Festival-witha funsolo album coming out madetogether withcolleagues and friendsNicolōFabiand DanieleSilvestri-and the extraordinarysinger-songwriterFrancesco DeGregori,whohaving producedsongssuch as "Rimmel,""La donna Cannone" and "Generale" does notneed any specialintroduction. Also of note,the appreciableperformance-alsofree - of Sud SoundSystem,a characteristicbandpioneered by the so-called"Italianragamuffin", an interestingvariant ofreggae.
2014 Cous Cous Fest Programme
The event in 2014 will see many new attractions and many confirmed attractions scattered along the streets of the charming village of San Vito lo Capo. First of all, every day, from 12 to 24, you can visit, on the beach, the reconstruction of a Berber oasis in the event called Al Waha. Several cous cous houses will be able to be seen at the gastronomic village, from the house of cous cous in San Vito lo Capo to the Mediterranean one, ending in one dedicated to the cous cous in the world.
For the most patient and curious, a cous-cous school has been set up where experienced teachers will pass on the ancient art of preparing this exotic dish. An Expo village will complete the picture with a stand where you can buy ethnic handicrafts, spices, clothing and much more.
This year, the administration decided to combine two events under the same banner: the Cous Cous Fest and Tempuricapuna event, dedicated to the bluefish that, in past years, had its own event period. Thus, there will be a space for tasting fried fish in Marinella Piazza San Vito lo Capo, a few metres from the famous beach, every day, from 12 to 24.
But the highlight of each day will be reached in the evening when the lights go out and the live show starts, which this year will see very popular and much loved artists perform.
The program seems still being finalized, but some events have already been organised.
On September 19, Sasā Salvaggio, the well-loved comedian from Palermo, who has starred in several editions of the popular Italian television programme "Striscia la notizia", will entertain the audience with his explosive comedy show "Sasao Meravigliao"
On 20 September it will be the turn of an artist loved not only by Sicilians. Jaka who with his enthralling rhythms of reggae and ragamuffin will make the square of San Vito lo Capo dance whilst singing about the beauty of Sicily and more.
On September 21, more laughter is in store with Ernesto Maria Ponte who will tell us about the paradoxes of modern life with his cabaret show.
Great music, on September 23 for one of the two concerts highlight of this San Vito summer. Pino Daniele will charm and pamper the audience with his soft and poetic guitar. Excerpts from his latest album "The Great Mother" as well as the historical pieces that were as a scaffold to the great blues tradition of Italian pop music.
The Other great musical event of the Cous Cous Fest of San Vito lo Capo is sure to be the concert of Irene Grandi September 24, returning again in Sicily to present his historical repertoire and bubbly: burn the city, are as you want me , let her go are just a few of the pieces that will thrill audiences of San Vito lo Capo.
