May, traditionally dedicated to the Virgin Mary, once again brings a series of floral initiatives in her honor. Among the most anticipated events in the province is Art&Fiori, the exhibition that transforms the staircase of San Domenico, now reaching its 15th edition in 2025.
The event, organized by the association Tradumari Eventi, has been held uninterruptedly for fifteen years, withstanding even the challenges posed by the pandemic. This year, 17 floral artworks will be created inside the Church of San Domenico and then arranged along the staircase leading up to the sanctuary. The installation will be on display from the last weekend of May until June 2nd.
Each edition features a different theme. This year’s theme is “Pilgrims of Hope – from Pope Francis to Pope Leo XIV”, a concept that connects spirituality with contemporary relevance.
The official opening is scheduled for Friday, May 30th, with a performance by the Trapani drum group “Trinacria.” On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, guided tours of the Church of San Domenico will also be available, offering visitors the chance to learn more about the building’s historical and artistic background.
Originally launched quietly by a group of young artists from Trapani, the event has grown over the years into a key fixture in the city´s cultural calendar. Even today, these artists continue to work voluntarily, without compensation, creating compositions that turn the staircase into a spectacular open-air display, attracting hundreds of visitors and tourists each year.
