From July 14 to 19, the Marettimo Italian Film Fest returns to bring film screenings, special guests, and cultural events to the island of Marettimo. Now in its sixth edition, the festival has become a key event in the cultural landscape of the Egadi Islands and the wider province of Trapani.
The charming squares of Scalo Nuovo and Scalo di Mezzo will serve as open-air venues for evening screenings of films, documentaries, and short features released over the past year, alongside talks with actors, directors, and well-known personalities from Italian cinema and television.
A highlight of the festival is the “Stella Maris” Award, presented each year by a panel of experts to distinguished figures in film and TV fiction. The prize celebrates the power of storytelling that reflects everyday Italian life — from hospitals to small towns — where human drama and solidarity take center stage.
Beyond its film program, the event also features a rich schedule of cultural activities and culinary experiences, with a special focus on the flavors of the Egadi Islands and of Favignana, a destination increasingly loved by travelers for its authenticity and gastronomic excellence.
Environmental awareness is another central theme of the festival, with dedicated screenings and discussions addressing climate change, marine protection, and sustainable fishing — crucial topics for the future of the archipelago.
The Marettimo Italian Film Fest is organized by the association SoleMar Eventi, under the patronage of the Municipality of Favignana and with the support of public and private partners. Year after year, the festival continues to strengthen its identity and attract growing acclaim from audiences and critics alike.
