FUTURE EVENT

Plan your stay in TRAPANI

Before continuing, if you are planning a visit to TRAPANI, here you can find some useful resources to choose where to stay, where to eat and what to do nearby.

On Saturday 5 September 2026, Nubia, a small seaside village in the municipality of Paceco just a few kilometres from Trapani, will host the seventh edition of Red Head Sicily, the festival dedicated to people with naturally red hair. The event will combine the sea, photography, local food, visits to the salt pans and live entertainment, turning one of the most distinctive landscapes in the Trapani area into a meeting point for redheads coming from all over Italy.

The event can also be an interesting option for visitors staying in the Trapani area, as the programme will take place in several locations around Nubia, including the beach, the historic tower, the Salt Museum, the Culcasi Salt Pans and the village square.

Red Head Sicily 2026: date and location

Red Head Sicily 2026 will take place on Saturday 5 September in Nubia, in the municipality of Paceco. The festival returns to western Sicily after previous editions held in locations such as Favignana, Marsala, Tre Fontane and Mascali.

The event was created in 2019 by Enrico Malato, Filippo Peralta and Max Firreri and, over the years, it has combined the redhead gathering with the promotion of the Sicilian destinations hosting it. The patroness of the 2026 edition will be Kathleen Lucey, an American originally from New York who now lives in Italy.

The Red Head Sicily programme in Nubia

The programme will accompany participants throughout the day across different areas of Nubia. The first activities will take place on the beach in front of La Torre di Nubia restaurant, with entertainment and games dedicated to those taking part in the gathering.

In the afternoon, the event will move to the nearby Torre di Nubia, where a photography exhibition dedicated to natural redheads will be inaugurated. The day will also include a visit to the Salt Museum and the Culcasi Salt Pans, giving participants the chance to discover one of the most fascinating landscapes on the western coast of Sicily, characterised by salt ponds and traditional windmills.

In the evening, the festival will continue in Nubia´s main square. One of the highlights will be a show cooking event with Luca Pappagallo, also involving some of the participants in the gathering. This will be followed by a mentalism show by Marco Bellantuono.

Red Head Sicily and Nubia´s red garlic

The 2026 edition will have a special connection with one of the area´s most distinctive products: Nubia red garlic. The festival will in fact be part of “Oro rosso e oro bianco”, an event scheduled from 4 to 6 September and dedicated to red garlic and the sea salt produced in the salt pans of Trapani and Paceco.

The colour red therefore becomes a way of promoting the local territory as well. Nubia garlic is known for the distinctive reddish-purple colour of the inner skin of its cloves and is traditionally grown in the countryside surrounding the salt pans.

A chance to visit the Trapani and Paceco salt pans

For visitors staying in Trapani, Red Head Sicily can be a good opportunity to spend a day discovering Nubia and the surrounding salt pans. The area is only a short distance from the city and is one of the most characteristic landscapes in the province, especially during the hours before sunset.

The festival programme makes it possible to combine the event with a visit to the Salt Museum and the salt-pan landscape. Visitors planning their holiday can also check our guide on what to do in Trapani and discover other summer events in Trapani taking place during their stay.

How to take part in Red Head Sicily 2026

Those who wish to officially join the redhead gathering are required to register through the form available on the Red Head Sicily website. Updates about the 2026 edition are also published on the official website and social media channels of the event.

Visitors coming from outside the province who want to use Trapani as a base for exploring Nubia, the salt pans and the surrounding coastline can browse the available B&Bs in Trapani. Nubia´s proximity to the city makes it easy to attend the festival and return to Trapani at the end of the day.
