Trapani is preparing to welcome a new season of performances with the 78th Season of the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese, a historic Theatre of Tradition officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Culture. The 2026 programme, entitled Verbs of Love, features twenty-one events from March to December, including opera, music, dance and concerts hosted in some of the city’s most evocative venues.
The theme chosen for this edition explores love in a broad sense, as welcome, inclusion and sharing, and forms part of a three-year project that follows the 2025 theme dedicated to integration, humanity and courage, before continuing in 2027 with the theme of dreams.
The season opens on March 29 at the Cathedral of San Lorenzo with Mozart’s Requiem K. 626, included in the Holy Week celebrations and offered with free admission until all available seats are taken.
The heart of the summer season will be dedicated to opera at the Teatro Giuseppe Di Stefano in Villa Margherita, where three much-loved titles will be staged: Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi on July 12 and 14, I Capuleti e i Montecchi by Vincenzo Bellini on July 21, and L’Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti on July 30.
In August and September, the programme will continue at the Chiostro San Domenico with seven open-air concerts, including American Dream on August 9. During autumn and winter, performances will move to the Sala Grande of the San Domenico Complex and the Teatro Tonino Pardo, confirming a cultural programme that accompanies the city for much of the year.
The 2026 programme brings together renowned names and young talents, including Bruno Canino, Michele Campanella and Monica Leone, Giovanni Sollima, Lidia Schillaci, the Signum Saxophone Quartet and the Faraualla.
The programme also includes the 21st Giuseppe Di Stefano International Opera Competition, scheduled from May 13 to 16, dedicated this year to the selection of voices for I Capuleti e i Montecchi. Subscription packages and special discounts for under-30s and over-65s are also available, helping to make the season accessible to an even wider audience.
With performances staged across several venues and a programme that combines tradition, music and entertainment, the Luglio Musicale Trapanese once again confirms its place in 2026 as one of the most important cultural events in western Sicily.
