From 17 April to 10 October 2026, the Museo San Rocco in Trapani hosts “Il mondo č uno”, a contemporary art exhibition combining visual art, poetry and reflections on the Mediterranean world. The project is inspired by the “Italian Triptych” by Yannis Ritsos, one of the most important Greek poets of twentieth-century European literature.
The exhibition is conceived and curated by Francesco Piazza, with the scientific advice of Amanda Skamagka, lecturer at the Department of Italian Language and Literature of the University of Athens. The itinerary brings together nineteen artists, each invited to reinterpret Ritsos’ work through different artistic languages and perspectives.
The event takes place at the Oratorio San Rocco, Museum of Contemporary Art, in the heart of Trapani’s historic centre. The exhibition can be visited on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Visits on other days and at other times may be possible depending on the availability of the museum volunteers. Admission is listed as free.
For travellers staying in the city, “Il mondo č uno” can be an interesting stop during a cultural walk through Trapani’s old town. The Museo San Rocco is located in a central area and is easy to reach on foot, especially for visitors staying in one of the B&Bs in Trapani or in accommodation near the historic centre.
The exhibition is not only a contemporary art show, but also a dialogue between images and poetic language. The reference to Yannis Ritsos gives the event an international and Mediterranean dimension, connecting Trapani with broader themes such as memory, identity and the changes of the contemporary world.
The presence of nineteen artists makes the itinerary varied and suitable even for visitors who are not looking for a traditional museum experience. The artworks offer different interpretations of the poetic text, creating an open visual journey for art lovers and for travellers curious to discover a less obvious side of Trapani.
This exhibition is especially suitable for those visiting Trapani in spring or summer and looking for an indoor cultural event to add to their stay. It can be easily combined with a walk through the historic centre, a visit to the harbour or an evening in the main streets of the city.
