The Valderice Carnival is back for its 32nd edition, ready to brighten the town’s streets with the traditional allegorical floats that will parade once again amid music, dancing, and an energetic crowd, drawing visitors of all ages to Valderice to enjoy one of the oldest and most beloved carnivals in the province of Trapani. First launched in 1992 thanks to a dedicated organizing committee, the event has grown year after year into an unmissable celebration that involves not only children but adults too, with masks, choreographies, and that contagious sense of shared joy that turns the town center into a lively open-air stage. As always, the program combines the parades with a full schedule of shows and local flavors, including street food and tastings of typical products, with Piazza Cristo Re as the main hub: it all begins on Sunday, February 8 at 4:00 pm with the allegorical float parade starting from Via Vespri (corner of Via Carollo) and ending in Piazza Cristo Re, followed in the evening at 8:30 pm by performances from the floats’ dance groups; celebrations continue on Friday, February 13 from 7:00 pm with the opening of stands featuring traditional Trapani-area specialties, and from 7:30 pm with performances by dance schools from across the province of Trapani, leading into a closing set of disco and dance music with DJs at the console; on Saturday, February 14, the afternoon hosts the 18th edition of the “Mascherina d’Argento,” the contest that crowns the year’s most original costume, while the evening is dedicated to live music and entertainment with Elena Adragna and her band, followed by the Extralarge performance to close the night; on the main day, Sunday, February 15 at 4:00 pm, the allegorical float parade returns with departure from Piazza Municipio and arrival again in Piazza Cristo Re, where the dance groups will perform at the end of the evening for final greetings and acknowledgements; the festival concludes on Monday, February 16, a day devoted to solidarity and inclusion with the “Inclusive Disney Carnival” project by the Alba…La Vita association, which will stage a scenic adaptation of Beauty and the Beast in the Molino Excelsior hall, with free admission.
