From November 18 to 21, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, a new initiative is planned in Trapani, with a view to deseasonalizing tourism.
The gastronomic event, organized by Confartigianato di Trapani and with the patronage of the municipality of Trapani is called Chef su Strada and promises days dedicated to good food.
During these autumn days, some of the typical street food products will be offered to the public, with a musical program to cheer up the event. There will be about 22 stands and they will exhibit the best street food not only from Sicily but also from Italy and Argentina.
As for Italian street food, the Puccia Pontina will be served, a typical sandwich with porchetta from the Marche, confit cherry tomatoes, cream of gorgonzola and black truffle, but to taste delicacies from around the world there will be spaces dedicated to Brazilian cuisine with the pichana, 100% beef cooked on a spit. Its name comes from the type of cut, very popular in Brazil and other Latin American countries. It is usually prepared on a charcoal grill and the meat is seasoned with coarse salt or, in some cases, with black pepper or other spices to magnificently enhance the natural flavors of the meat.
Another street food specialty is the Mexican burrito, traditionally prepared with a rolled tortilla filled with meat, vegetables and spices. Also from Mexico we will have the tacos with classic tortillas stuffed with various ingredients and garnished with the most diverse sauces.
Returning to Italian food we will have meatballs all´amatriciana and alla cacciatora high with fried pizzas.
These delicacies, both Italian and international, will be accompanied by craft beer produced by craft breweries from all over the world.
Finally, we could not miss the dessert with kurtos, a typical Hungarian dessert known as sweet chimney or chimney cake, for its characteristic shape.
For celiacs, gluten-free food and beer options.
