Archived Christmas parties already think of the carnival, which this year comes very early and the various localities are in turmoil to organize the events that are scheduled. For what concerns Valderice, which boasts a tradition with its carnival now in its twenty-sixth edition, has been preparing for some time one of the traditional events of local folklore with great participation of citizens and tourists.
As always, the central event of the kermesse is the parade of allegorical wagons, which are made with great skill by the city workers, who with simple materials such as polystyrene and papier-mâché, make great works for free, always putting professionalism and imagination at the disposal of the whole community.
Even though immediately after Christmas the focus is on Carnival, the organizing machine of the committee sets in motion a few months before and the themes object of the allegory by the artists are the most disparate, even if politics through its very picturesque events prevails over everything thanks to his personalities that become necessarily the object of ridicule and irony. Woe if it were not so, the spirit of the carnival would be less.
The program of the event as always includes several musical events even if there are moments of tasting with the famous cous cous cooked with pork that will be served in Piazza Cristo Re.

Thursday 08 February 5 pm Piazza Pertini (Town Hall) Piazza Cristo Re: Grand opening parade of the 2018 Carnival with dance group, while at the hours in Piazza Cristo Re XIII ED. Cous Cous "c´à caene di porcu". The evening will close at 9 pm with the dancing evening in Piazza Cristo Re.
Friday 09 February 20 hours, Piazza Cristo Re Tasting of traditional products, while at 9 some local dance schools will perform in Piazza Cristo Re.
Saturday 10 February 17.00 Piazza Pertini Parade of allegorical floats along the Via Vespri to via Detroit, while at 9.00 pm there will be a tasting of typical products of the tradition in Piazza Cristo Re.
Sunday 11 February 17 Hours Via Detroit Parade of allegorical floats along the Via Vespri to Piazza Pertini, while at 7.00 pm there will be a tasting of typical products of the tradition in Piazza Cristo Re.
Monday 12 February 4pm Sports field court XIII Silver Mask - Award ceremony of the most beautiful mask, while at 7.00 pm there will be a tasting of typical products of the tradition in Piazza Cristo Re.
Tuesday, February 13th 17.00, Piazza Pertini Parade of allegorical floats along the Via Vespri to Piazza Cristo Re, while at 19.00 there will be a tasting of traditional products in Piazza Cristo Re. 9pm Piazza Cristo Re: Group dance performances will follow.
