ONGOING EVENT

Plan your stay in TRAPANI

Before continuing, if you are planning a visit to TRAPANI, here you can find some useful resources to choose where to stay, where to eat and what to do nearby.

Until 28 June 2026, the contemporary art space INCURVA in Trapani hosts the group exhibition “I Ciclopi (Eye, Camera, Myth)”, curated by Saim Demircan. The exhibition takes place in Largo San Francesco di Paola, in the historic centre of the city, and offers an interesting cultural stop for visitors spending a few days in Trapani.

The project is inspired by a 1971 text by Robert Smithson, where the camera is connected to the ancient Greek myth of the Cyclops: a single eye that observes, records, but can also distort reality. Starting from this image, the exhibition explores the relationship between vision, photography, body, technology and myth. The camera is not presented as a neutral instrument, but as a device that selects, interprets and changes the way we look at the world.

The show includes works by Dora Budor, Jana Euler, Jasper Marsalis, Simon Dybbroe Møller, Nina Porter, Margaret Raspé and Davide Stucchi. Visitors will find sculptures, films, installations and paintings, with works that refer to monocular vision, reuse photographic technologies or question the very idea of the image.

Opening hours, free admission and featured artists

The artists involved have exhibited in major international institutions, including the MoMA in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and Kunsthalle Basel. This makes the exhibition one of the most interesting cultural options of the period for visitors who want to discover Trapani’s contemporary side.

The exhibition is open with free admission. According to the available information, opening hours are: Thursday and Friday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The venue is also described as accessible to people with disabilities. Before visiting, it is still advisable to check for possible updates, especially on holidays or in case of visits by appointment.

For travellers staying in Trapani, “I Ciclopi” is a good opportunity to discover a different side of the city, beyond the sea, the old town and local food. After the exhibition, visitors can continue with a walk through the historic centre, among churches, old palaces and views of the harbour.

To plan your stay, you can also check where to sleep in a B&B in Trapani, the restaurants in Trapani and ideas on what to do in Trapani during your visit.
