After several years of absence due to technical reasons, the XII Historical Reenactment “Manfredi di Trinacria – Medieval Trapani” returns to the city. The event is officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Culture and included in the National Mapping of Italian Historical Reenactments. The 2025 edition will take place from 14 to 16 November at the Royal Monumental Complex of San Domenico and inside the Royal Church of San Domenico, where Infante Manfredi, son of King Frederick III, has been buried since his death in Trapani on 9 November 1317.
Over three days, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a medieval atmosphere with free access to the Royal Church, the Crusaders’ Chapel, Manfredi’s tomb, and the Bell Tower, which will be open to the public at no cost. The Cloister will host the Historical Village, featuring reenactors, artisan stands, and an area dedicated to falconry with an exhibition of birds of prey. Guests will also have the chance to experience the “glove baptism”, holding these magnificent animals on their hand.
The opening night is scheduled for Friday 14 November at 9:14 PM in the Church of San Domenico, with an homage to Manfredi and a concert of ancient Sicilian instruments accompanied by historical tales about the Aragonese and medieval Trapani. On Saturday 15 November at 10:30 PM, the evening will feature a fire performance by artist Ida Bruni.
The grand finale will take place on Sunday 16 November at 5:00 PM, with the Royal Parade starting from the Church of San Domenico and concluding in the Cloister, where the final performances will be held and the Bell Tower will be illuminated in a suggestive light show.
The event is supported by the Municipality of Trapani and the Rectorate of San Domenico, with the collaboration of Pro Loco Trapani APS.
