Paceco’s municipal park once again becomes the beating heart of the town’s cultural summer with the third edition of “A Macaràro”, the artistic and cultural festival celebrating Sicilian excellence. From August 28 to 31, four evenings of open-air theater will transform the public garden into a scenic outdoor stage. The theater section of the event – organized under the patronage of the Municipality of Paceco and in collaboration with Associazione Mirandolina, Teatro Libero A.C., and Kepos Performing Theater – features a lineup entirely created by Sicilian artists: four original plays offering different perspectives, emotions, and stories.
The program kicks off on August 28 with “Due passi sono”, written and performed by Giuseppe Carullo and Cristiana Minasi. On August 29, “Ràriche”, written and performed by Manfredi Messana, takes the stage. On August 30, the spotlight turns to “Aranci di ´nterra”, a play by Giacomo Bonagiuso featuring Liliana Marciante, Giovanna Russo, and Giovanna Scarcella. The series concludes on August 31 with “Mater”, written by Giuseppe Tarantino and performed by Ilenia Di Simone and Ylenia Modica. All performances begin at 9:30 PM and are free of charge.
“It’s a program designed for everyone,” says Giovanna Scarcella, creator and director of the festival. “For the third consecutive year, we aim to engage a community that needs to reflect and have conversations on important issues—going beyond the apathy that unfortunately often affects small towns. We do it through the language of art, which breaks down barriers and reaches people of all kinds.” Scarcella adds, “This project, supported by the local administration, stems from a strong belief that culture—no matter the form—is a social elevator that must not be stopped but nurtured. The shows tell stories, use languages, and express gestures that belong to everyone. They move us, make us think, and fuel essential debates.”
Following the August theater events, the “A Macaràro” festival will continue in September with a new section dedicated to writers and local artists, reaffirming its status as one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Paceco summer.
