It will open on December 5 in Erice, in one of the most beautiful medieval villages of Italy, the exhibition dedicated to the cribs made in churches, courtyards and shops.
For Christians, the Nativity scene is the symbol of Christmas that every family was and is still made in the forms and in different ways depending on the imagination of those who create it.
The crib was the symbol poor and devout Christians towards Christmas, but today is the artistic expression of the most impressive with figures of shepherds and angels, placed in different locations.
The medieval village of Erice offers the chance to see real works of art, one of all, the crib displayed at the Civic Museum A. Cordici mold century, which was built with marine materials and characters made with precious alabaster.
Within the festival there are the compositions in wax inside the glass bells, which can be admired in the church of San Giuliano, reminiscent of the art and technique of the old nuns who once lived in the monasteries of Erice.
But to remain to this day there are plenty of contemporary cribs, set up in the private yards of some houses and shops and are so special, because the characters, who perform the ancient crafts, are operated mechanically.
However, both traditional and contemporary cribs, which show the general public that every year crowds at Christmas Erice, mingle in a blaze of light and color, but also flavors, because there are different initiatives scheduled throughout the period of the event with concerts and musical events, shows and moments of animation, as well as initiatives of charity, because especially at Christmas, we should not forget the poor.
From 5 to 8 December Erice hosts the International Exhibition of Music and Popular Instruments, which will animate the medieval part of a broader event "EricèNatale, cribs in the streets of the village."
One of the most typical folk instruments, which can be heard during the Christmas season is definitely the bagpipe, the unmistakable sound, which immediately brings to mind the warm and friendly atmosphere typical of the Christmas period.
To recreate the sounds of the most beautiful time of the year are the groups not only from Italy, but also from some European countries like Slovakia, Spain, Ireland and Serbia.
The show will start at 15.00 hours of Saturday, Dec. 5 with the Performances are touring the streets of Erice, then continue at 16.30 in the council of the town of Erice with the official presentation of the event and groups .
All weekend and until 8 December uninterrupted performances along the streets of the town and in Piazza Loggia from 10 to 16, while the final concert with the closing party of the festival is scheduled on December 8 at 11.30 in Piazza della Loggia.
