Even the carnival in the Egadi Islands is about to start with a program full of initiatives for adults and children in the name of fun and excitement.
It is not only an entertainment opportunity for the local population, but also for the ever more numerous tourists attracted to the various events.
In Favignana the carnival party begins on Thursday 28 February in Piazza Matrice for the little ones with the event "La Maschera della Scuola", which takes advantage of the contribution of the parish Maria SS delle Grazie, while the fun then continues in the afternoon in Piazza Europa for the official opening of the dances with music and dance.
Sunday 3 March there will be the traditional parade of allegorical floats, which will start from Piazza Matrix and will wind through the main streets of the village, while in the evening at 10.30 pm there will be the dancing evening.
Throughout the day of Monday, March 4, the wagons will remain on display in Piazza Matrice, but will return to parade on Shrove Tuesday until 22.30 when the festivities will end with the proclamation of the winning wagon.
Carnival parties are very much felt in the island communities with other initiatives also in Levanzo and Marettimo; in particular to Marettimo with the parade of allegorical wagons through the streets of the town that will have the following route: Via Telegrafo, Piazza Scalo Nuovo, Corso Umberto, Scalo Vecchio, Scalo di Mezzo, Piazzetta Scalo Nuovo, Corso Umberto, with rally along Corso Umberto.
There will be no lack of animations and tastings of typical products.
Among other things this year there is one more reason to land in the Egadi Islands during the carnival, thanks to the promotion of Liberty Lines, which will apply a 50% discount on all round-trip tickets that will be purchased at the same time between February 28th and March 10th 2019.
This promotional initiative is carried out under the patronage of the municipality of Favignana, which has prepared the exemption of the landing tax, thus offering a further facilitation.
