The best option is definitely by car: take the SP18 road toward San Vito Lo Capo and, just before entering the town, turn left onto the SP63 to reach the north entrance. The distance is about 48 km and takes just over an hour to drive. (View the route on Maps)
The other entrance is the south one, near Scopello. To reach it, follow the SS187 passing through Scopello. The entrance is just above the village. Distance: 38 km, approximately one hour by car. (View the route on Maps)
Parking areas are available near both entrances.
There is no direct bus to the Zingaro Nature Reserve. One alternative is to reach San Vito Lo Capo or Scopello by bus (click here for bus timetables) and then walk to the respective entrance. However, this involves a fairly long walk and relies on Sicily’s limited public transport—keep in mind that there are only two buses per day to Scopello!
Honestly, we do not recommend this option.
For a more convenient option, especially if traveling in a group, you could book a private transfer or taxi from Trapani. The trip takes about 60 minutes and costs around €70–80 per ride, meaning €140–160 for a round trip. At these prices, it might be better to simply rent a car for the day at one-third of the cost.
The Zingaro Reserve is not just a typical beach resort: it´s a protected natural area with dirt trails, elevation changes, exposed sunny sections, and coves only reachable on foot. That’s why it’s essential to dress appropriately, especially in the summer. Here’s what to bring for a safe and comfortable hike:
There are no refreshment points inside the Reserve, so it’s essential to bring at least 1.5–2 liters of water per person, snacks or a packed lunch. Picnic baskets are ideal if you plan to stop at the beach or rest areas.
And of course, respect the beauty of nature! There are several trash bins inside the Reserve.
The Reserve is open every day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Entry costs €5 (reduced to €3 for children). Pets are not allowed. Always check for updates on www.riservazingaro.it.
