One of the most important, that must not fail in the event calendar Christmas, is certainly the nativity cave in the hamlet of Scurati Mangiapane (Custonaci), which every year attracts many visitors, especially tourists.
The "Living Nativity" held annually since 1983 in the most famous cave, which is located within the Reserve of Mount Hood, because in the past has been chosen as the location for several films and television series such as "Inspector Montalbano".
Until the fifties the cave was used by the family "Mangiapane", hence the name of the cave, for the processing of cheese, but abandoned in the years that followed, he remained unused for a long time, until a local association decided not to revalue, transforming it into the famous cave of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born Child, recreating around a village of shepherds, peasants, composed of over 160 performers, including craftsmen, shepherds and extras, not only from Custonaci or from neighboring countries, but the entire Sicily .
This year´s nativity scene will take place on the following days: 25, 26, December 27, 2015 and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 January 2016.
The theatrical performance is realized with the artificial lighting and the use of torches and pans Roman with a service also videocontrol and civil protection in case of accidents.
