From July 31 to August 4, the coastal village of Castelluzzo, just a few kilometers from San Vito Lo Capo, will once again host “Bagli, Oil and Sea”, a beloved food and wine event celebrating fresh seafood and locally produced extra virgin olive oil, all set in the breathtaking scenery of Baia Santa Margherita.
Now in its 13th edition, the festival has become a summer highlight for locals and tourists alike, thanks to the quality of its dishes and its relaxed, seaside atmosphere. Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner right on the shore, savoring freshly caught fish, traditional pasta with red garlic from Nubia, and other Sicilian specialties, all paired with crisp white wine and high-quality local olive oil.
Strongly rooted in the territory, the event is supported by Slow Food, ensuring the use of authentic ingredients and promoting local excellence such as Trapani sea salt and Nubia’s red garlic. The event is organized by the Castelluzzo Tourist Association, under the patronage of the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, and in collaboration with the Zingaro Nature Reserve.
But it’s not just about food. The festival also features live music performances, paragliding shows, and guided tours of the area´s traditional rural farmsteads known as bagli. Fans of the popular TV series “Makari” will also recognize the surroundings, as the show was filmed just minutes away—offering visitors the feeling of stepping into a real-life film set.
More than just a culinary event, “Bagli, Oil and Sea” is an invitation to experience the true essence of Sicily, through its flavors, landscapes, and traditions.
