The long-awaited San Vito Lo Capo Kite Festival starts again from May 22nd until Sunday May 26th, now in its 14th edition to make everyone feel like children again, because the kite is a toy that everyone has used to have fun , but it also finds great interest and entertainment in todayīs children thanks to the fact that it costs little and does not require any particular skills other than the strength of the wind that makes them fly high.
And in our parts the wind never fails. And this is why the event attracts many enthusiasts to San Vito Lo Capo, where it will be possible to admire and purchase the kites in the specially set up stands.
Also in this edition, there will be no shortage of kite-building workshops where everyone will have the opportunity to learn how to build one to fly immediately in a dedicated area on the beach. For professional kite flyers there is a more suitable flying field, set up along the Via Savoia.
The event organized with the patronage of the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo includes a full program of events starting from the official opening on May 22nd at 10.00 am when a parade will leave the municipal building to parade along the city streets in the company of the municipal authorities and organizers. Accompanying them is the "Cittā di San Vito Lo Capo" musical band.
All the competing kite flyers will also participate in this parade, each with their own flag of origin of the participants.
The collateral events will involve children, with moments of entertainment, inflatables and magic shows. For adults, the music of the Drepanum Dixie Band will cheer up both the participants and the many visitors to the festival.
Like every year, given that the Festival falls on the anniversary of the Capaci massacre, there will be a solemn commemoration of the tragic event in which judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and the escort agents lost their lives. In the presence of civil, military and religious authorities, a minute of silence will be observed to remember these civil heroes 32 years after their death.
There are many leisure and entertainment events planned for these 4 days which will be a prelude to the tourist season which has already begun in San Vito Lo Capo, and which will find its culmination in September with the Cous Cous Fest. So letīs all keep our noses in the air and enjoy the thrill of kite flying.
