For the first time in the renowned town of Macari the ancient magic of the traditions of the past is revived, which right there, an ancient rural village on the outskirts of San Vito Lo Capo, was practiced because tourism was a distant activity and people lived simply and without much means. In fact, people lived with little and it is for this reason that the life of the past has a certain charm and can be re-evaluated in terms of tourism as well as cultural.
The festival of rural traditions will take place from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 May by the Acqueruci onlus association in collaboration with the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo and will make tourists and visitors retrace a fantastic journey through time, making them relive the atmosphere of a time when the ancient inhabitants carried out their culinary and craft activities, when the economy until the end of the seventies was mainly based on agriculture and manufacturing.
Macari has always been a place not highly valued because it was almost crushed by the presence of nearby San Vito lo Capo, but for some years now this ancient village has been experiencing a second youth thanks to the success of the homonymous television drama, which made it famous for a heritage of great cultural value, which if properly evaluated, can be important for tourism purposes.
And this is what this association wants to do in a festival in which the ancient rural atmospheres are recreated, ranging from the craftsmanship of carpets and artifacts in general, from the construction in straw or olive trees to the manual repair of the nets.
As in any self-respecting festival, there is no shortage of things to eat with the possibility of tasting some local gastronomic specialties such as cassatelle, cunzato bread, cannoli with ricotta and almond sweets.
To enrich the event there will be a rich program of musical, cultural and entertainment performances always linked to the tradition of the area, and while waiting for the third edition of the Makari fiction to be filmed, everyone is invited to visit the village in the prelude event of the new tourist season.
