What to do in the Province of Trapani

Erice (TP) . " THE BATTLE FOUND " or " The Battle of the Egadi [ 241 BC ] through the reinterpretation of historical sources and archaeological discoveries ." And ´ this is the title of the keynote address will be given by prof . Sebastiano Tusa , Superintendent of the Sea of Sicily Region , the next Saturday, October 26 , at 10:30 am in the conference room of the Museums " A.Cordici " of Erice.

During the meeting, which will be introduced by Dr. . Salvatore Denaro , Director of the Culture Department of the City of Erice, will also be read , edited by Piervittorio Demitry , some songs on the First Punic War, excerpts from Book I of the Histories of Polybius [ 206-124 BC ] , the greek historian of ancient Mediterranean world .

The initiative, organized by the Foundation Erice Art , is part of the exhibition "Mare Rostrum " , thanks to which , again within the premises of the Museum Centre , from September 6 , you can see up close one of the bolts in bronze that covered the the final stretch of the bow of warships , and that it was used more than 2250 years ago , right in the historic clash between the Roman and Carthaginian ships .

In conjunction with this event - finally - the exhibition " Mare Rostrum ," even to meet the needs of visitors, will be extended for a week and will therefore remain open to the public daily from 10 to 19, until Sunday, November 3, 2013 .

Admission is free .
