It was heldthis morningin Erice,in the forecourt ofthe Castle of Venus, as partof the initiatives plannedfor thetwelfth week of culture,the evocationof the ancientrite ofKatagòghia, the returnof the dovesfrom the seaatthe start of thebeautifulseason.
According to ancientlegend,the templeof Venuswereraisedthe whitedoves,animalssacred to the goddess, whose flightsurrounded thetemplethroughout the yearuntil, coinciding withthe arrival of winter, they flewin North Africa.On that occasion, on October 25,was celebratedthe rite ofanagòghia,the ritewas celebratedinsteadofkatagòghiaApril 23to mark thereturnof the dovesincoincidencewiththe ancient festivalof spring.
The initiative waspromoted bythe Public Educationof the City ofErice, in collaboration withthe Middle SchoolA.De Stefanoand thearchaeological groupDrepanon.
