Took place yesterday, January 16, 2012, in Favignana, the establishment of the Commission meeting of AMP Reserve "Egadi Islands", established by decree of the Minister of Environment.
At the first meeting was attended by the president appointed by the Minister of Environment, Mr. Louis Pelaggi, vice president appointed by the Region of Sicily, Gaetano DŽAntoni, the representative of ISPRA, Prof. Franco Andaloro, the representative of the Harbor , Capt. Ignatius Calogero Puleo, the representative of the municipality of Favignana, Prof. Michael Pontius, and the expert appointed by the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Salvatore Braschi.
The work of the Commission were introduced by the greeting of the President of the AMP and Mayor of Favignana, Lucio Antinoro. The meeting was attended also the Director of the WAP, Dr. Stefano Donati, who by law performs the task of reconciliation between the Commission and the reserve management entity.
Commission President, Mr. Pelaggi, has highlighted the institutional tasks of the WAP, stressing that "the Commission is an advisory body, which issues opinions on the only major acts adopted by the body, such as the proposed regulations or proposed riperimetrazione AMP. the decision-making tasks, management and consultation with the territory and its citizens are of exclusive competence of the operator (the municipality of Favignana), of which the Commission should not be a duplicate, but a stimulus and collaboration ".
During the meeting, the Director of the WAP, Dr. Donati, presented a report on the commissioners from the large number of activities during 2011, gaining appreciation by the Commission for the work of the managing body.
