A new campaign of excavations at the archaeological park of Marsala, fund it will be the municipal coffers. The announcement is not new, indeed ... But it was eventually approved the plans for the campaign of excavations was dated 2010-2011, but that still must be realuzzata.
The cost of excavation for the project prepared by the surveyor Parrinello is 248,200 euros. The latest round of excavations carried out on Viale Vittorio Veneto, the heart of the archaeological, ended with important discoveries. In February it came to light a thermal plant incorporated perfectly preserved in the imposing fortifications more than two meters high and a monumental gateway to the city from the port, and an additional stretch of decumanus maximum. Work even then had been financed by the city of Marsala for a sum of about 500 000 euros. Responsible for the excavations was Dr. Lily. After the discovery of important finds Renzo Carini Mayor Marsala announced the next excavation campaign, saying that "should be the responsibility of the Superintendent of the Sicilian Region and deal with this kind of commitment but it's only the city of Marsala, which shall bear scientific initiatives the archaeological park ". The intention for the future, only that for several years now, is to open the archaeological area to the public, make, in essence, a real park. Over the years the situation of the archaeological park and, in general, the whole area of Porta Nuova, were the subject of disagreements between the administration and the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Trapani. There is in fact a project to develop the archaeological area of Capo Boeo, totaling 3 million euros and a half, started by the Superintendency of Trapani, and suspended for over two years. The project, which dates back to 2002, is the architect John Nuzzo. The goal was to create a new pole of attraction in the province of Trapani archaeological itineraries. Then equip the area creating a guided tour of the site with the installation of an observatory in the Archaeological Museum Baglio Anselmi Archeological informational and educational purposes, installation of a sound track to deliver sound, music and voices along the path visit, and the project called "The rooms of the time" that is based on the projection of images that speak in the form of multimedia history of the site. Work began in 2004 but until now there is no guided tour to the archaeological park. Now, with regard to the forthcoming excavations will be issued the tender for the award of work.
