On 27 and 28 November 2009 , in Erice (TP) at the Palais de Sales, the Municipal Administration of Erice, the Superintendent BB.CC.AA. Trapani´s Drepanon Archaeological Group and the Italian Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology Naval Venice, organized a conference entitled " The devotion of the sailors. The cult of Aphrodite Ericina in the Mediterranean " .
The conference, to be attended by scholars from different Italian and foreign universities , will be divided into three sessions that will address the following themes : the Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Erice , topography, history, archeology, epigraphy , numismatics , and the cult of Aphrodite Erice in Sicily and meditate ; piety and devotion of the sailors in the Mediterranean.
The conference aims to highlight the important role played by the sanctuary ericino part of cults and the Mediterranean policy , from its ancient origins , which are lost in the early history of Sicily to the Roman period , but also to develop the theme of the relationship in ´ antiquity between places of worship and sea routes .
