Buseto Palizzolo is also preparing to celebrate Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday with the traditional Via Crucis.
Of all the rituals taking place in our territory, the one in Buseto Palizzolo is the most recent, because the first performance dates back to 1981 when a group of young Busetani full of enthusiasm and a great desire to do, conceived this event, thinking that it would be lasted a few years; instead it has become very popular not only in the Trapani hinterland, but also nationally, receiving the prestigious "Italilive" award in the "Historical Re-enactments" category.
Thirty-seven years have passed since the first edition and the current scheme of the Sacred Representation is the result of a long experience of many events, but which has nevertheless preserved the same religiosity.
The representation of the Via Crucis of Buseto Palizzolo is made with living characters, who do not recite or interact with the public that attends the edges of the streets as in that of Marsala, but play a role while standing still without leakage of any emotion or sign of fatigue until the end of the representation that is scheduled at 11.30 pm when the Sacred groups arrive in Piazza G. Falcone of Buseto Centro.
The procession is organized by the Confraternity of the Crucifix which, starting from the beginning of the year, moves with preparatory meetings to prepare with passion the edition that is never identical to the previous one for style, shape and decorations.
The Via Crucis starts at 5 pm and leaves the Church of Santa Teresa del Bambin Gesł, in the village of Badia, but the calendar of Holy Week in Buseto Palizzolo does not end with this representation, but then continues on Good Friday with the Procession of the Holy Crucifix for the streets of the center, always starting from the Santa Teresa del Bambin Gesł, in Villaggio Badia.
There are 16 groups that make up the Via Crucis of Buseto Palizzolo and are:
